Yes, advanced online booking is essential.
How do I register a team?
Click on our registration button, select a category, and complete our easy to fill form.
Do I need any experience?
No previous experience is required as full training and safety briefings will be provided
How do I get a dragon boat?
A boat, paddles, safety equipment and qualified helm will all be provided for you.
Does early bird registration require team members names?
No, but it’s a good time to begin recruiting your full team.
How long is the racecourse?
The course is approximately 250m of racing.
How many races are there?
Each team competes in at least 3 races after which some teams enter the knock-out phase in the various categories.
How fast is the course?
Experienced teams dip comfortably under 60 seconds although the average is between 60-85 seconds.
Do I need to be able to swim?
No, but you will be required to wear a lifejacket as a safety precaution.
What is the minimum number allowed per team?
The minimum requirement is 11 in a team including a drummer.
What is the maximum number allowed per team?
17 people including a drummer, but you can enter up to 20 allowing for 3 substitutes.
Is DragonFest suitable for kids?
Yes, children aged 12 years and above are welcome to participate.
Who can take part?
Anyone can participate – young, old, able-bodied and less able-bodied.
What time do teams need to arrive?
All teams must arrive 1½ hours prior to the start of the event, for training and team briefings.
Are there any changing rooms?
Yes, each team will have an allotted area within the teams tent on the event village green.
Are there toilets?
Yes, toilets will be situated on the village green.
What should I wear?
Dress comfortably, in your team attire / fancy dress / sports or leisurewear.
What do I need to bring with me?
It is advisable to bring some sunscreen, a towel and change of clothes in case you get damp.
What do I with my valuables?
You are responsible for any valuables, and we recommend you leave them at home or with a non racing team member.
